Whenever a project is started it requires a lot of work initially done before starting it..Which includes FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS....... Project feasibility is the most important thing which guides the whole project till its end.
But students are not very much focused to do so. They usually neglect this area and their major focus usually is technology....
The most important part of any projects's Feasibility is the Cost-Benefit Analysis. Final year students should learn to prepare a project feasibility report before starting any project. If any of them would prepare it then only tangible benefits and tangible cost is take under consideration. Most of them doesn't count the number of hours each person gave to the project. other intangible cost factors like the brain storming, technology and other things learning etc.
Similarly intangible benefits, like awards, certificates and recognition are all intangible benefits, while monetary rewards...reselling the product and earning cash...OR earning the GRADE are direct revenues and tangible benefits which a developer or his group earn... So before you start any project, always think about the number of hours given to that project and the benefits you can extract through such efforts...The more the benefits are the successful the project would be.
One day i was receiving hell of messages on facebook...the chat with full of spirit, enthusiasm, anger and emotions were going on... Who would be the president of ITEC (Information Technology Exhibition & Competition)? And i was laughing at them, if they 're curious about POSTs then how would they be able to organize a massive event..? all things get decided later and then the working got started... struggles were there , spirit was there and last but not the least a vision was there...
The day i got the invitation, still was confused (would it be happened or... :/ ) as previous experiences were not much good. But my juniors made it done. they proved that they can do as good as it was done earlier. Despite of the management chaos, university pressure, faculty SUPER-VISION and other issues ITEC was organized and very well organized. Sponsors like Mazik , ASUS, Frontal Labs ( with innovative products) and others who were there made it fabulous.I was asked to judge the software project exhibitions...To mark the Projects average ones would be the injustice with some of them.
Projects/Ideas were awesome but again the lacking thing was business perspective. The vision of IT students has restricted and confined to the Learning (so called) and Jobs. Very few of them have business logics with them although every idea/project was fantastic but people are not aware of the market value of it. I must say that some marketing corses should also be included in BCIT/ Software engineering course.
Impressive ideas/projects like cell phone image processing ( OCR ) were there to search the text from books, hoardings, bill boards, signs but students were giving demostration about TECHNOLOGY only... A Female group displayed a project having purchase guide solution with "no male" in their group and very much confident about their skills but how would they get rates from markets/shop-keepers? they were speechless on this question. The most surprising thing was the 2nd year students who were technically more sound than final year ones and their projects were based on very good ideas having business perspective too. Small level mentoring can lead them to their own enterprises thill than they will pass out from NED.
Finally over all perception was good. some of the things were shocking. Match Making Idea (initiated by us at our time) has toltally been changed and seems uselessly placed over there, as the team was not serious in this regard. Other than sponsors, invitations were not sent to the other companies in time. But over all the event was good, and the response from students were also good. Very much hopeful that the cause is getting more strengthen by the new blood. May ALLAH bless...!
The blog is based on
the research and findings corresponding to the recent industry trends and the
changing behaviors of the marketers. The idea of integration is not as much
new. It was initially been practicing in Japan and some other countries. US and
other countries later adapted the IMC techniques and the trend is increasing
day by day.
Conventional marketing
practices like 4Ps and 360 degree marketing are now being changed. The major
reason is the increasing efficiency and affectivity of the brand communication
to masses.
IMC involves more than
assuring that all communication is seamless in tone and approach, though. It is
precise. It is based on a strategic planning process that begins with a
thorough knowledge of customers and their needs. Marketing communications has
evolved from a "push" mode of communication, traditionally using
advertising to simply sell products. In this day and age, selling isn't enough!
Emphasis has to be placed on carefully crafted messages to narrate brand
attributes, enticing people to not only like a brand, but to fall in love with
it. Thus, creating a brand culture, where products or services become a part of
everyday life for users.
360 Degree Branding is
critical in today’s marketplace. More channels today, more noise, more
competition between products, more products crossing borders, more competitors
coming out of more places. Add to that, there is less sustainable
differentiation between products. Brands are the only sustainable difference –
that is why they are so invaluable, and every client is riveted.
Mattel opened
a $30 million, six-story flagship Barbie store in Shanghai with great
fanfare. With its retail a sale growing by 15% in China in 2009 Mattel was
right to look there for revenue growth for its Barbie brand. It targeted the
right age and socioeconomic group. Middle-class Chinese women between the ages
of 24 and 32 are especially optimistic. Their incomes kept rising to where they
now account for about half of all household income, up from 20% in the
1950s.
Chinese
women tend to like cutesy, girlish pink clothes (think Hello Kitty), not the
sexy and skimpy kind Fields designed. Odd as it sounds, Snoopy-branded clothes,
cartoon logos and all are hot sellers for women entering the white-collar
workforce. So far sales at the Barbie store have been disappointing. The
product positioning and style just aren't what Chinese women want. The pricing
hasn't fit the market too. it is a different story, the dolls from Japan
or korea which are lovely, cute, baby look, are more welcomed, that's something
with the taste of toys. in that case, barbie doll has not the biggest market
share.
All
is not lost for Barbie in China, however. Young girls still clamor for those
dolls and other products. Barbie has a fine future in China, but if she wants
to make the most of it, she will need to rethink what Chinese girls and young
women want, as well as how they shop. While
looking at the ads of the Barbie doll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytq0Ed_5FJk
they have tried to put the cultural essence as well as the feelings of the
children and parents’ love but somehow they failed to reshape the doll for
China. Chinese women are not as taller as Barbie looks and its shape makes the
parent offended to put before the children.
With
384 million Internet users, China accounts for over one-fifth of the 1.73
billion people around the world that take to the web. A few can blame Google
for having nothing less than global domination in its mind, when it entered the
Chinese market.
One
of the big reasons of Google failure in China was its biggest USP i.e. Search
Engine. How ? It is very simple to understand that Chinese language has
thousands of characters in it and there would be hundreds of words to express
any statement. Because of this, Chinese people don’t like to type anything and then
search instead they prefer the navigational searches and links hence the
reason why most Chinese portals consist of hundreds of colorful links competing
for attention.. And Google was unable to provide such interface to Chinese
people. If you see the google’s page for China i.e. http://www.google.com.cn,
you’ll find an almost identical search box to the one you’d find on Google’s
U.S. page, which poses a big problem considering that it doesn’t fit Chinese
characters very well.
Even
if Google actually did take the time to study up on the market it wanted so
badly, the American corporation wouldn’t be able to understand its audience in
the same way Chinese firms like Baidu do. In the battle for global domination
of the Internet, Google will just have to settle for everything else… because
it can’t win this war. This shows the communication strategy of Google failed
in China. Now Google has moved it searches from China to Hong Kong. And this is
only because it was failed compliance with the Chinese target market as well as
the obligations of government which it couldn’t follow particularly in
restricting the searches.
Secondly
if you see the ads of the google in china like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEx22Nip4cU
you would get it that it only highlights the features that google is providing
to the people but how these features are useful it was failed to communicate this.
Google should portray the culture of China as it is the main essence in Chinese
campaigns and should portray the usage for Chinese people.
Wrigley China is the largest confectionery company as well as
the largest chewing gum manufacturer in China. Wrigley Confectionery (China)
Limited and Wrigley Confectionery (Shanghai) Limited are 2 legal entities
wholly owned by the Wrigley Company, registered in China in 1989 and 2001
respectively. Currently, Wrigley has 3 factories in China. Skittles is one of
the most popular brands in china owned by the Wrigley.
The
Skittles campaign depicts a world of unpredictable experiences, giving familiar
and mundane situations a twist. The television commercial features a naughty
boy on the bus, making fun of a girl by messing with her long pigtail. Yet, the
pigtail comes alive and teaches the boy a lesson with its skillful kung-fu
moves.
In
addition to the TVC, the Skittles campaign is supported with activation
launched on 'Singles Day', a Chinese pop culture holiday on November 11 that is
celebrated by those who are still living the single life.
NIKE
China’s
athletes are full of ambition. They challenge themselves and always seek out
inspirations to make themselves better athletes. Over the years, Nike has launched a number
of campaigns, special products and athlete tours in China that provide personal
interaction and introduce unique innovation for consumers. From recently
executing the Nike Human Race to
the Manchester United tour, Nike is
focused on providing consumers with authentic and inspirational experiences
through sport.
For
instance, in basketball NIKE completed athlete tours with top Nike players such as LeBron James,
Kobe Bryant and the Jordan Brand’s Chris Paul. LeBron, Kobe and Chris all
traveled to China in the summer of 2009 on separate tours to meet with fans,
participate in youth clinics and act as ambassadors for the game of
basketball. Nike athletes

Nike
swung into action even before most Chinese knew they had a new hero. The moment
hurdler Liu Xiang became the country's first Olympic medalist in a short-distance
speed event--he claimed the gold with a new Olympic record in the 110-m hurdles
on Aug. 28--Nike launched a television advertisement http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kUPHg-47ks
Furthermore In China showing Liu destroying the field and superimposed a series
of questions designed to set nationalistic teeth on edge. "Asians lack
muscle?" asked one. "Asians lack the will to win?" Then came the
kicker, as Liu raised his arms above the trademark Swoosh on his shoulder:
"Stereotypes are made to be broken." It was an instant success.
"Nike understands why Chinese are proud," says Li Yao, a weekend
player at Swoosh-bedecked basketball courts near Beijing's Tiananmen Square.
Retail
is a key focus for Nike in connecting with consumers, both online and in store.
In China, Nike is
taking the retail experience to the next level, delivering customization and
more information. Nike Beijing and Nike Shanghai provide consumers with premier
retail destinations featuring some of our most innovative performance product.
These locations provide a destination with interactive programming and
professional insight that will meet their needs while advancing their training regimen.
Both of Nike’s stores in Beijing and Shanghai make a strong brand statement
with a world-class shopping experience.
Working for a client according to his requirement is not an easy task. And when he limits you to the conventional programming then you can't find a narrow escape...! And if you have a chance to make the decision on your own then do follow the recent market techniques.
Today I ll just let you know about one Google API i.e. Google Charts API. It is very helpful for a beginner to start with and get command over it. A few lines of code help you in making dynamic Charts, Graphs and Diagrams. https://developers.google.com/chart/
Very helpful in making dynamic charts with much more clear graphics in no span of time. Specially when you are making a web application, such small snippets make your life much more easier. As these APIs runs through internet. Given below is the url to practically make changes and get your desired chart.
Just Change the values given in the code and Press Run Code. For instance:
//Original Line of Code
var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([
['Task', 'Hours per Day'],
['Work', 11],
['Eat', 2],
['Commute', 2],
['Watch TV', 2],
['Sleep', 7]
]);
// Change it to your desired data
var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([ ['Products', 'Sales'], ['Oil Packets', 10], ['Shampoo', 2], ['Soap', 2] ]);
//Setting the title
new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('visualization')). draw(data, {title:"Sales for Today"});
Press Run Code button and you' ll get the chart like given below:
China made mobiles revolution in Pakistan is now overcoming Pakistani markets specially the cellular industry. Initially disposable mobile phones were launched and now you can easily get the first copy of any well known mobile phone in 1/4th of its cost.
QMobile has captured most of the market share of well known companies. Even samsung is now competing QMobile for its different models. What a developer needs to understand is that how can you make your app useful for the common Pakistanis. We can see the growing industry of China made phones, so the focus should be the apps which can run on these mobile phones.
Windows Phone 7, Android cannot compete to these cheaper phones as the law and order situation doesn't allow a common man to buy such a costly phone even though he can afford it. The IT students should develop mobile apps focusing the operating systems of mobile phones which are commonly being used. Mostly java OS are used and a developer can build apps on J2ME for these phones. learning the technology of android and win ph 7 is good but if you want your apps to be run and used publicly then think out of the box..!
Remember that these phones are available in market at very low cost. and apps for such mobile phones will definitely be encouraged.
Or you can make an app store of such mobile phones where people can upload apps for these phones :)
A hope for all the students/startups and young people having an idea or a project but have no funding and mentoring to start with. Specially the students of final years of different universities like NED, KU, IQRA, KIET and MAJU should come up with new ideas and their final year projects in this program.
Don't afraid to take initiative. Just pitch your idea, its benefits and innovation , if selected then a new career will be started as an Entrepreneur..! The program is conducting by P@SHA in collaboration with Google. Mentors will be the leading Entrepreneurs and the champs of the industry.
"If your idea is innovative and uses technology either as a development platform or as a platform for delivery – and actually addresses a specific social need, then we are interested in you and would like to help you."
Bring a change with your idea.. Yes you can do it...! Apply Here --> P@SHA FUND
Two countries having almost similar cultural values and traditions. Two nations but the roots are in the same soil. Two enemies but having the same cause. India posses the same thoughts perhaps which Pakistanis have for Bangladesh after 1971. But both countries now accepts eachother separate entities having separate ideologies and different political and economical scenarios. Then why are we curious on declaring India MFN ( Most Favorite Nation).
I think this should have been done a long time ago, but the hatred due to the wars and separation in 1947 still forbid us to think positively. After taking risk of saying NO to US/NATO Pakistani Government has left with no option except of making friendly relations with all of its neighbor countries. China, Iran and Now India are being added in the friendship list of Pakistan. And a big role was played by AMAN ki ASHA and business community of Pakistan. Because they emphasis to maintain relation with India to get the things in much cheap rates comparatively than others, And India would have an opportunity to promote its business here.
All of us know that Indian movies pirated CDs are easily available in market and the situation of our Industry seems well that where we stands, our trade and production is decreasing day by day. So why not making it legal and profitable for Pakistan. Despite of having all concerns I think we need to build good relationship with india at least on trade and opportunities level. As this will help Pakistan to strengthen its boundaries against foreign countries like US. To build good relation are in favor of both the countries to use each other resources in order to prosper without fighting... lets see till when this relations lasts but We can hope for the good...!
Begum Khursheed Abdul Aziz (1913 -2010) the lady who will always be remembered. One of the best friends of Fatima Jinnah, the one who has done many things for the country. Founder of Hajirabad Colony near Shah Faisal Colony. 15000 people were settled there and houses were given to them in just 700 in 1960s. She was the architect of many colleges e.g. Sir Syed Girls College and she were the reliable adviser of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.
She was the true leader of women without any discrimination. She was the first who rose voice against the tradition of SATTI in hindu religion to protect the women burning in fire with her husband. She also tried to put the women rights on different forums. A true lover of Pakistan and its people. Do whatever she could for the refugees. Once she was offered the federal ministry too but she refused to get charge because wanted to serve people without being pointed out.
Led the women in Pakistan movement with Rana Liaquat Ali and Fatima Jinnah. Always helpful for needy people. A philanthropist and a great mother. Her husband was a journalist named Mr. Abdul Aziz. Both of them served the country with their endless and best efforts. She had the spiritual vision and powers gifted by ALLAH and with His support she was always blessed. May ALLAH rest her soul in peace.
HEC has announced its new ranking and surprisingly NED and IoBM ratings are decreasing down. Can you digest it? Yes there is a criteria defined for HEC grading but HEC shouldn't neglect the current market trend and jobs ratio. Both of these universities are perceived to be the high gentry of student in engineering and business.
But aren't universities liable for this grading ? yes, they are! If we talk about NED, being a university of state its management has few responsibilities to fulfill first. The university producing champs of different engineering fields has not even replaced blackboards from it till yet. Although Private Universities are considered as money making factories but some are very good as they own a good name in Industry too. Is there any mechanism given by these universities that their grading can be dependant upon the student feedback surveys too. In my 6 years of University education I have never filled a University grading form by HEC.
Being a government institution NED, is also a victim of traditional working trend. The professor who is eligible of a chairman post is forced to sit aside and chairman seat will be awarded to his junior without having any serious claim against him. A dean can have 3 position at the same time including Chairmanship of 2 departments. Isn't it the monopoly ? Non-professional teachers are hired in faculty just because they are relatives of the person on higher posts. And they are awarded with HEC foreign scholarships too. And as a result we need to face the brain drain.
I think Governor Sindh should take notice of the internal management issues in government universities as he being the chancellor owns this responsibility. Quota system should be removed from every university so as to maintain the merit and proper scholarship awarding schemes should also be introduced for the students who can't afford high fees. If nobody will take any notice then there would be no skilled faculty remains in the universities to teach the students what they should learn.
Are you still working with SQL queries? Select * From EMP.... OR Insert into .... OR UPDATE ___ (sorry I forgot :p )... These queries can never be forgotten but as advancement in the technology is upbringing a hell of changes then you should analyze yourself that where do you stands? Now the era is coming where Rapid Application Development is on its hype. Are you coping up with it?
In 2008, Microsoft introduced Codename Astoria which later became Entity framework. What it tends to do basically works on ORM (Object relational mapping). You can now write queries as like you are programming in C# with your own customized objects. JSQL , although having same capabilities but Microsoft was led its technology to hype and making it easier for beginners to code a program.
Irrespective of its technical details, you just focus on the technique and technology. You will learn it by yourself while making a small program using Entity Data Model, having the .edmx extension. It enable your database in Classes form in your code where you can make their objects and perform database CRUD operations. The demo session will be here soon.
